I was the lead sculptor in creating a 6 metre high cardboard totem pole commissioned by Walk the Plank arts to celebrate the Rugby World Cup 2015 five nations parade in Exeter.
The parade in October marked the five nations that played at Sandy Park rugby ground in Exeter. Each section of the totem pole represents one of the five nations with the chief head on the top of the pole to represent the Exeter Chiefs Rugby Team as the host stadium.
Each section was crafted from recycled card, layered up to produce 3D elements/features.
Chief Head – Exeter Chiefs
Turtle – Tonga
Wolf – Italy
Oak Leaves – Romania
Oryx – Namibia
Rose – Georgia
All work was supported by a talented team of support artists.
Students from Exeter College and University of Exeter contributed to the construction within workshop sessions.
The painting was completed by lead painter Candid Boyes.
