Full size Ikea furniture, as well as an A4 size version for the Ikea Head Office

I was commissioned to create cardboard furniture installations across two sites in Exeter to mark the opening of the new Ikea store. As part of their ‘Sustainable Series,’ where living more sustainably is an integral part of the Ikea philosophy – each piece of furniture was created entirely from cardboard waste generated.

The two sites were: Exeter Central Library, where I installed a cardboard bookcase, lamp and armchair; and Phoenix Arts Centre in Exeter, where I installed an armchair and coffee table. All of the furniture were replicas of Ikea furniture and were designed to be used by members of the public. I also created a smaller version of the installation to go into Ikea’s Head Office building.
