Jilted Generation, 2019

Size: 70x45x90cm

This sculpture is a cardboard portrait of my eldest son. It was inspired by and is a reaction to the environment and political and the cultural situation we have handed to our children and the next generation… asking the question, ‘who do they become when they grow up?’ The work contains a painted segment on its chest, taken from an adapted drawing my son made when he was nine years old, thereby integrating the past and present into the body of the sculpture. On his right arm you can see an internal wooden section, which was handmade by my son on his art course, thereby incorporating our different artistic disciplines together.
